WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican Governors Association Chairman Governor Bobby Jindal issued the following statement regarding Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett’s announcement that he will seek re-election:
“In his first bid for the state’s top office, Governor Corbett campaigned on bringing real change to government and real prosperity to Pennsylvania, and just three years later, those ideals have ushered in a period of undeniable progress and success for the state. Governor Corbett eliminated a $4.2 billion deficit, balanced three on-time budgets without raising taxes, reduced government spending for the first time in 40 years, and added over 141,000 new jobs to the private sector. He has followed through on his commitment to education and ensured – as promised – that Pennsylvania remains a leading energy supplier domestically and internationally. When it comes to improving Pennsylvania’s future, Governor Corbett has proven to be a man of his word. We have no doubt that will continue in a second term.”
